JUANEWS · EDITOR DESK

Where Every Story Is Decided.

The JUANEWS Editor Desk is the control room of the newsroom. Here, every headline, every angle and every correction is reviewed before it goes live to Africa and the world.

Desk role: Edit, verify, approve and publish stories.
Works with: Reporters, Raw Africa, Reportcast & JUANEWS TV.
Focus: Accuracy, balance, speed and Afro-conscious storytelling.

News Editor

Monitors the wires, submissions and live tips; decides what becomes a JUANEWS headline and assigns stories to the right reporters.

Section / Desk Editor

Owns a zone (Africa Desk, Global, Politics, Economy, etc.), shapes angles, checks context and aligns every story with our editorial mission.

Copy & Standards Editor

Cleans language, checks facts, enforces style, verifies quotes, headlines, captions and makes sure JUANEWS never publishes blindly.

What JUANEWS Editors Do – Every Single Day

Core responsibilities:

  • Review story pitches, drafts and Raw Africa uploads from reporters and citizens.
  • Edit copy for clarity, impact, balance and legal risk before publication.
  • Verify names, dates, locations, numbers and all critical facts.
  • Decide placement: homepage, JUANEWS Africa, Global, Biafra, Investigations, etc.
  • Write and approve headlines, stand-firsts, captions and social copy.
  • Coordinate with JUANEWS TV and Reportcast so print, audio and video match.
  • Pull back or kill weak, biased or unverified stories — even under pressure.

Tools inside the JUANEWS system:

  • JUANEWS Admin Board – internal dashboard for editors.
  • Reporter Manager – tracks who filed what, and when.
  • Raw Africa – unfiltered citizen footage waiting for verification.
  • Reportcast – audio reports that must match the written story.
  • JUANEWS TV – live & recorded segments linked to each file.
Editors are not just “fixing grammar”. They decide what the continent sees — and what stays on the cutting room floor.
